MSME stands for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Since July 2020, MSME registration is called Udyam Registration and is done on udyamregistration.gov.in.
Any business — proprietorship, partnership, company, LLP, trust, HUF or co-operative — in manufacturing, trading or services can register. There is no minimum turnover or investment: even a brand-new business with zero sales can register as a Micro Enterprise.
Classification limits, revised from 1 April 2025:

The registration is free of government charges, is Aadhaar-based, and the certificate is generated on successful submission. It has no fixed validity, but turnover and investment details should be updated each year.
Old Udyog Aadhaar (UAM) registrations must be migrated to Udyam — we handle that too.
